As it is a surgical process, it is necessary to perform a series of preoperative tests to confirm that the candidate is suitable for the intervention and to rule out possible contraindications.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, so the patient does not experience pain.
Tubal ligation is a simple outpatient surgery that takes between 30 and 45 minutes, at most an hour in more complicated cases.
The postoperative period of tubal ligation is usually quite calm, since the patient walks home on her own feet without any discomfort. The discomfort is very mild, and intra-abdominal gases may arise after the intervention, however the discomfort is minimal and in general the patients do not usually suffer any type of pain.
It is a permanent contraceptive method, so it is difficult to reverse it in a later intervention. For this reason, it is necessary for the patient to be clear that she wishes to undergo this intervention.
